Sleep in Heavenly Peace

All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads.  Across the U.S., too many boys and girls go without a bed – or even a pillow – to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health.

Grace youth and adults recently spent an afternoon building 20 beds that will be given to children in Lake County.  Tasks ranged from sanding and staining to drilling and assembling. Their labor of love was part of a “Build Day” at Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering beds to children and families in need.  They are a national organization with 173 build locations in 46 states, including one in Libertyville. St. Joseph Church is a generous supporter of this chapter, providing free space and equipment support.  That chapter has delivered over 200 beds to the children of Lake and McHenry counties since its inception in November 2018.
